RSM non-EEA Scholarship of Excellence in Netherlands,
2015-2016
Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University is inviting applications for Scholarship of Excellence. Scholarship is open for prospective IBA students from all non-EEA countries who are going to start their studies in 2015/2016. The amount of the scholarship for the academic year 2015/2016 is approximately 6,500 euro. The application deadline is 1 March 2015.

Scholarship Open for International Students: All non-EEA students can apply for these scholarships. The school may give preference to students with one of the following nationalities: Brazilian, Russian, Indian, Chinese, Taiwanese / Korean / Filipino, Indonesian / Vietnamese / Thai, Iranian / Iraqi, Azerbaijani / Georgian, Turkish, African (all countries) and Mexican.
Scholarship Description: Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University offers scholarships for students from non-EEA countries who are not entitled to pay the EEA tuition fee, provided their grades are considered ‘excellent’. The scholarship will be provided in the form of a waiver from the non-EEA tuition fee.

Duration of award(s): The scholarship will be awarded for the first year of the IBA programme, provided excellence in previous education is proven. As the scholarship will only be awarded for the first year, students need to be aware that they will need to have sufficient means to cover the study costs of the second and third year.
What does it cover? The scholarship takes the form of a waiver being the amount of money that will be subtracted from the full non-EEA tuition fee. The waiver fully covers the difference between the non-EEA tuition fee and the EEA tuition fee. You will always have to pay at least the statutory tuition fee. For the scholarship, no actual transmission of money takes place. The scholarship part of the non-EEA tuition fee will be subtracted from the full non-EEA tuition fee before the start of the academic year, enabling you to immediately pay the reduced tuition fee; either at once or in instalments. The amount of the scholarship for the academic year 2015/2016 is approximately 6,500 euro.
Selection criteria: The scholarships will be awarded on excellence.
Notification: This scholarship committee will determine award recipient(s) on 1 April 2015.
How to Apply: When applying for the IBA programme in the online application form (OLAF) you will be asked to upload documents which will be used for evaluating your application. During this process you can also upload your scholarship application letter (maximum 1 A4 size page). The application letter should include the following information:
-an explanation why you would need a scholarship, comprising a description of your financial situation;
-an explanation why you would deserve a scholarship, comprising a description of academic excellence and if applicable other merits.
-if applicable: certified copies of other scholarships granted;
-a signed statement indicating that other scholarships awarded do not exceed the amount of 5,000 euro in total;
-the following documents are not required if you have already uploaded these for admission to the IBA programme: certified copies of the secondary education academic transcript (certified list of grades), and if applicable certified copies of transcripts from a higher education institution: to date, as available at the moment of application (normally already part of your application package).

The AISSR and the Governance and Inclusive Development (GID) are inviting applications for scholarship for PhD candidates in International Development Studies. Total three PhD positions are offered for candidates from Ghana and/or South Africa. Scholarship is available for the PhD positions, totaling EUR 1600 during stays in the Netherlands (50%) and EUR 775 during stays in Ghana/South Africa (50%). The full-time appointments will be for a period of four years (12 months plus a further 36 months contingent on a satisfactory performance during the first year), starting 1 November 2014. The application deadline is 7th September 2014.

-Excel academically, as shown in the grade transcripts and curriculum vitae;
-Have a firm basis in mixed methods and (for PhD3) GIS.
-Have experience with fieldwork in the respective study regions; mastering the local language (Twi) in Ghana is considered an asset;
-Have an excellent written and spoken command of English;
-Have excellent organizational and social skills;
-Have the ability and interest to work in a team;
-Wish to pursue an academic career.
Scholarship Open for International Students: The students of Ghana and South Africa can apply for these scholarships.
Scholarship Description: The AISSR and the Governance and Inclusive Development (GID) programme group at the University of Amsterdam are looking for three PhD candidates from Ghana and/or South Africa who will participate in the WOTRO-funded research project ‘Inclusive partnerships and innovation platforms for sustainable landscapes and greater food sovereignty among tree crop farmers in Ghana and South Africa’. This WOTRO-funded research project is directed by dr. Mirjam A.F. Ros-Tonen of the University of Amsterdam in collaboration with partners from Ghana and South Africa, and the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT) in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Number of award(s): Within this programme, three PhD positions are available for candidates from Ghana and/or South Africa:
-Livelihood trajectories and innovation space in smallholder cocoa and oil-palm farming systems in Ghana (PhD1)
-Livelihood trajectories and innovation space in smallholder macadamia and mango farming systems in South Africa (PhD2)

Three scholarships are open for excellent international students wishing to start the Research Master’s programme in Philosophy on 1st February 2015. Each scholarship amounts to €10,000 for the first year of the Research Master’s programme, and in the case of good study results can be renewed for the second, final year. Eligibility: Admission requirements for international students
-A completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Philosophy or related area Candidates seeking admission to the programme must meet the following criteria:
-They must possess an internationally recognized Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in philosophy (with merit or distinction or equivalent).
-Their wheighted grade-point average in philosophy in the 2nd and 3rd year of their Bachelor’s degree studies must be the equivalent of 7.5 or more (on the Dutch scale of 10). You can find the table “Conversion of Grades at Radboud University Nijmegen” here. It gives you an indication of what the equivalent of a Dutch 7.5 or 8 might be in the country where you obtained your BA degree.
-They must be able to demonstrate to the Examination Board that they have serious research interests and skills.
-Note that, if you have a Master’s degree in Philosophy, you may receive a waiver for some of these requirements. It may then be possible to seek direct admission to the second year of the programme.
-A proficiency in English: The language requirements for Master’s programme in Philosophy differ from the general language requirements!
-In order to take part in the programme, you need to have fluency in English, both written and spoken. Non-native speakers of English without a Dutch Bachelor’s degree or VWO diploma need one of the following:
-TOEFL score of >577 (paper based) or >233 (computer based) or >90 (internet based)
-IELTS score of >6.5
-Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) or Proficiency in English (CPE) with a mark of C or higher
