Did you know these facts about Africa, the continent of 54 countries? Ok, dig in and take it all in. Here are some 40 facts on Africa, I will be back in other editions to give you more spice on Africa, the Spicy continent… courtesy of Nairaland Forum. We love Africa in all its glory…

19. The Seychellois are the most educated Africans. Seychelles’ literacy rates (Adult: 92%, Youth:
       99%) Zimbabwe is 2nd (Adult: 91.2%, Youth: 99%). However, this ratio is based on population 
       size, and these countries have one of the smallest population size in Africa. Seychelles -;

      of State? He has ruled Equatorial Guinea since August 3, 1979 when he overthrew his uncle, 
      Francisco Nguema. His son, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue is his Vice President and will 
      succeed him if he resigns. 

33. Did you know that George Weah of Liberia is the first man to win World, European and African 
      footballer of the year,in the same year? 

34. Did you know that Swaziland is the only remaining absolute monarch in the world?

35. Did you know that The Gambia is the smallest country in Africa followed by Swaziland?

36. Did you know that King Sobhuza ll of Swaziland took the longest time in reigning Swaziland, 62 
      years as he was crowned in 1921 and died in August 1982 at the age of 83 years? 

37. Did you know that King Sobhuza II of Swaziland, married 70 wives, who gave him 210 children     
      between 1920 and 1970? 

38. Did you know that Zimbabwe is the only country in the world were almost everyone was a 
      billionaire at one point? 

39. Africa and Europe are separated by less than 9 miles at the Strait of Gibraltar, which separates 
      Spain from Morocco. The two countries are discussing constructing an undersea rail tunnel to       
      connect the rail systems on the two continents.

40.  Timbuktu, Mali is home of one of the oldest universities in the world, established in 982 CE. By 
        the 12th century, the city was such an intellectual hub that National Geographic has referred to it   
        as the Paris of the medieval world. I guess the Spice Girls didn’t take geography because in one 
        of their self penned lyrics they believed Timbuktu to be located in China!
